Archives and Manuscripts Department Lauren Brown, Curator The mission of the Archives and Manuscripts Department is to build and manage collections in support of campus research and instructional needs as well as those of the state of Maryland and the wider research community and to facilitate the advancement of scholarly research through access, storage, and preservation of special collections. Five distinct units comprise the Archives and Manuscripts Department at the University of Maryland Libraries: Historical Manuscripts, Library of American Broadcasting , Literary Manuscripts, National Public Broadcasting Archives, and University Archives. The Archives and Manuscripts Department also administers a cooperative agreement between the University of Maryland Libraries and the National Agriculture Library. All of the collections are available in Hornbake Library. Historical Manuscripts, Literary Manuscripts, and University Archives materials are serviced through the Maryland Room, and Library of American Broadcasting and National Public Broadcasting Archives materials are serviced through the Broadcasting Archives (third floor, Hornbake Library).
